About Ed

Raised in South Florida and moved to Alachua County in 1982 to study at the University of Florida. After graduating, I decided to stay and start my law enforcement career here in the community at the Gainesville Police Department. I have worked at the City of Gainesville and Santa Fe College for over 36 years. My family and I have continued to invest in the community. My wife of over 36 years, Lori, just retired as a first-grade teacher at Kimball Wiles Elementary School. Both of my children graduated from Buchholz High School and attended Santa Fe College.

I continue to serve my community by staying involved in several service organizations including the Rotary Clubs of Gainesville, which is dedicated to service and works to provide funding for local non-profits. I previously served as a long time member of Keep Alachua County Beautiful and a mentor in Big Brothers and Big Sisters of North Central Florida. I have been a member of the Black on Black Crime Task Force for over 20 years.

During the day, I serve as the Chief of police at Santa Fe College, working to protect students and staff from all across the country.  I also serve as the Emergency Manager, am an adjunct instructor, on the access and inclusion committee, and am involved in many other efforts. I currently serve as the Region 17 Director for the Florida Police Chiefs Association working to coordinate efforts on a statewide level.

I’ve dedicated my life to serving others in my community, and I hope to continue doing so when elected to the City Commission.

I will get things done, actively listen to your concerns, and continue to earn your support every single day over the next 4 years.
